Discrimination story night

Integration for the people of other skin colour in the Baltic’s is a challenging task, as the fact that they stand out of the crowd is drawing attention to them in a regular every day situations. The ‘’Afrolat’’ community in Latvia unites people of African roots, or from mixed families where one of the parents is from Latvia and other with African roots.

During this non formal evening workshop a round of story sharing activities were organized. Local youngsters and other interested people from Riga got a unique chance to hear the real life stories from people, having difficulties to integrate due to their skin color. Racist comments from local community, and other challenging situations, showed the necessity to work with the local community in Latvia from young ages. To educate them towards diversity and becoming more tolerant for people of other skin color.
